Countdown to NEP’s Exciting Green Meadows Festival
Nottingham Energy Partnership’s Green Meadows project is thrilled to announce an exciting event on the horizon. Formerly known as the Green Meadows Picnic, the fourth consecutive year of this annual celebration will go by the new name of the Green Meadows Festival, epitomising the day as a celebration of green living and local and national climate action.
The popular FREE family event will return to the Queens Walk Recreation Ground, where you can find a variety of activities for all ages, skills workshops, talks, music, and free food between 12-4pm. The event is all about sharing practical skills and knowledge on climate resilience, inspiring others to join the growing movement and creating an opportunity for individuals to find out more about the positive action going on in the Meadows community.
Open to all, this is a chance to see the lasting impacts of NEP’s projects in-person and to find out how you could get involved.

Green Meadows enable the Meadows Community to confront climate change and engage in local action by funding innovative ideas and initiatives that benefit both the community and the environment. During the festival, attendees will have the chance to see first-hand the efforts of community members, particularly those from the Green Meadows Community, who work together to lead local initiatives, such as the Butterfly Project, Community Composting, Meadows Growing Group and Hedgehog Highway. Join us to find out how these residents have come together to have a lasting impact on the Meadows, paving the way towards a greener future.
Local organisations and groups will be in attendance to run skills workshops, activities and stalls themed around taking positive climate action, reducing energy use, and increasing sustainability. This will include exciting activities such as foraging with the Nottingham Forager, low energy cooking with Tiger Community Enterprise CIC, renewable energy with Saffron Science, and natural plant dyeing with Plant Dye Studio.
Local groups will also be on site, including AMC Gardens, as well as Cycle Saviours – who will be offering free bicycle servicing and repairs.

Nottingham Energy Partnership will be on hand to offer advice on improving the energy efficiency of homes and reducing fuel bills, along with information on the latest support and grants available such as the Home Energy Advice Team Hub and HUG2 scheme. Our services are broad, and our support is wide-reaching, so this is an opportunity to find out about all that we do and how we are combating climate change and fighting fuel poverty.
Meadows’ residents will have the opportunity to learn about services available through the Green Meadows project, such as the Insulation Guides, Future-Fit Homes, Toolshare, and more. As well as meeting our friendly team, attendees can get hands on experience of our free workshops, trying their hand at the skills that we put into action at our events.
Amidst the action, live talks will take place, focusing on areas such as retrofitting homes, young voices in climate change and environmental writing; there will be an array of music, with DJs and special performances from Meadows’ teenagers. Whether you prefer to relax and listen or to get hands-on and try new things, there will be something for everyone, with ample seating, shelter, and entertainment.
Those who sign up to the event will receive a complimentary food voucher, offering delicious food prepared by the Bridges Community Café – a local initiative that serves as a resource hub for Meadows’ residents seeking support and guidance in areas such as education and employment. A selection of hot and cold beverages will also be available on the day.
Based in the heart of the Meadows, the festival is easy to reach. We encourage you to leave your car at home and join us by public transport or bike – accessible by getting the tram to the Queens Walk NET tram stop, by buses 11, 11C, 48 and 48X or by train, with Nottingham Railway Station just a quick 7-minute walk away.
